This website is an on-going work in progress. Over time I intend to add new items of interest. Initially it has a strong ISO compliance and press bias as this is a very important part of my work and an area where I receive constant questions but this will be expanded as time allows. If you have any questions relating to colour management that are not yet answered or areas you would like to see covered, feel free to contact me, all feedback is welcome.

What proofing solutions does colourhead support?

Colourhead supports GMG ColorProof and Serendipity Software Megarip and Blackmagic. Proofing rips are priced by the output size they can produce and of course by the features they have such as the ability to create screened “dotproofs” or reproduce spotcolours using in-built colour libraries such as Pantone.

If you are considering a proofing rip give serious thought to exactly what features you really require and of course the printed output size as these all effect the price dramatically. If you have an old rip and need to update it, please contact me as a new rip with the most up to date specifications, printer drivers etc may well be cheaper and better than updating your current rip.

What is the difference between iso and pso?

These are terms which are commonly interchanged. ISO is a family of standards such as 12647-2 for offset press and 12647-7 for proofing. PSO stands for Print Standard Offset and is the method used to determine compliance with the 12647-2 standard.

Does colourhead offer iso certification?

Yes. Provided the required criteria are passed, a certificate of “Independent Verification Of ISO Compliance” can be supplied. A framed certificate is supplied for display at the client site and also a graphic for use in email signatures, letterheads etc.
